Ruben and Noel made fun of latecomers, making
them guess the name of a supposed-to-be classmate who was actually Vicky's
husband. Of course everyone failed and put on the spot, and everyone
else had fun. Other latecomers were Agnes Q, Joselito S, Rey A, Mario
S, Gene S, Kiko L,Torch, M, Butch J, Sue V, Butch del D, Freddie P, and
last but not the least, Doy Vea.
I guess everybody enjoyed it because it was
too informal -- no prepared program except to talk, laugh, eat, drink,
take pictures, and more talks, more laughs, and more reminiscings.
That's one of the distinctives of our batch, don't you agree? Of course
we had toasts to our 2 new Brigadier Generals Rey A and Gene S. B-day
candles were lighted and put out by classmates turning 50.
Then a short mtg: (1) Decided that the next
reunion will be Nov 24, 2001 at Cats' residence again, and Chuchi will
donate P20,000 to it if it will be in the same format. See?
(2) What to do with the class funds -- bank requires a SEC registration
which we do not have as a foundation. Chuchi, the lawyer advised
it's too tedious to register, so why not just put it in c/o signatories
Maline A, Ruben S, and Ed S. Copies of updated class directory were
distributed and alumni T-shirts were sold at a hargain. The food
was superb with a lechon de leche as main, catered by Maline's fastfood
and resto. There were tete-a-tetes among close friends, drinking
bouts by you know who, candid conversations around tables. All in
all, the atmosphere was relax, jovial, in kindred spirits, and very warm.
What a batch!!! Tito D and Orly B who
also belong to another batch were one in enviously saying, "iba talaga
'tong batch na 'to, ang saya, ang gulo." Oo nga!
From Vicky Marinas-
It was definitely fun. Remember we had a 'retro' theme for outfits?
The girls came in their best 60s, the boys, in their
lousy 90s. Masunurin talaga ang mga babae. Pinaka-colorful
si Agnes. She came in blouse and mid-calf skirt with matching
socks and flat shoes reminiscent of our high school get-up.
May dala pang school bag. She was laughing so much at herself. Carol
came all the way from Cagayan de Oro in a becoming HS of the 60s
outfit. A number of us came in white blouse with the front opening
tied in knot 'ala-Sandra Dee'. I hope Tito de Gamo got our best angles.
Napaka-gulo ng mga kodakan. Maline prepared for about 60 people.
According to Ed and Loret around 40showed up including my hubby
Lino and Fely's Andy. About 15 or so who said they will
come were no shows and they missed it. Because it was Cat's BDay,
she had lechon in addition to the pica-pica. Drinks were flowing
served by very attentive CKiss waiters. There was no more program
but we had a candle-on-the-cake ceremony for all the golden celebrators
and a toast for batch 66. So who were there? Bobby Novenario
who left early, Cynthia Pundol, Gilda Lagera, Cora Hizon & Carol P
(pareho na silang lola), Councilor Baby Z, Tabby who is not
a golden girl yet, Alma, Prof. Gigi, Sue in an all-blackoutfit.
Rey and Gene were the center of attention. Pinakamaingay si
Ruben at pinaka-generous si Chuchi.
My husband had his share of fun, kasi hindi siya ma-i-dentify ng mga male
classmates. I also saw Dr. Dick, Joselito Santos,
Orly Borja, Bing Santos, Atty.Butch, Dante, Noel, Director Joey,
Pastor Butch and Pastor Bobby. Paul Reyes and Mario Santos sat at
our table. Francis Lumen (now the President of National Broadcasting Corp)
came late. I was surprised to see Freddie Poe ('65).
I had left when Doy and Torch dropped by. Freddie
Guzman was a most gracious host gamely joining the banters with Cat beside
him. Mid-way, Maline called everyone's attention for next year's
reunion.
I will stop here and let others share.
