Let's all go down memory lane together and share in the excitement and special joy of being with your dear classmates of 35 years ago. It is a once-in-a-lifetime event... please join us on Friday, June 22 through Sunday, June 24 in the most exciting city in the world...New York!!! As previously announced, the hotel is the Courtyard by Marriott at La Guardia, 90-10 Grand Central Parkway, East Elmhurst, NY 11369. The special bedroom rate is $125 for up to 4 persons in the room (that is very reasonable considering New York City 2001 prices) and you can call in your reservations to 1-800-321 -2211 or 718-446-4800. Please note that after June 7, 2001, the special rate will no longer be available so be sure you make your reservations before that date and mention the UPHS group to avail of the $125 rate.
We will begin with a Spirit of New York cruise on Friday evening (we have already signed the contract and paid the deposit fee) that features a sumptuous buffet dinner and complete entertainment with two live bands. Saturday morning, the organizing committee will host a brunch at Rene Bersamin's place and we are preparing a lot to make sure everyone has lots of fun. We will have some time to rest that afternoon before the big event - a 7pm semi-formal dinner dance at the Courtyard by Marriott. Besides a live band, a buffet dinner and lots of dancing (we will definitely have a ladies choice dance, and you cannot choose your spouse okay???), an exciting program is being planned, this time by our California classmates. Performance numbers will be big surprises and there will be raffle prizes to win as well. Sunday's program is still being worked on and we will let you know once we have this finalized.
Now for the nitty-gritty...the money part...
To everyone who have paid for the cruise, I thank you very much. Your payments allowed us to sign the contract with the Spirit of New York. For those who have not yet sent in their $63 per person payments please do so now and if anyone wants to add to their party, just send in your additional payment check with a note.
We need to sign the contract and pay a big deposit with the hotel before this month ends (or we will lose our reserved space and block of rooms...). The dinner dance will be $67 per person. So for anyone who still has to pay for the cruise, kindly add the dinner dance payment for a total of $130 per person. For those who were really good and have paid for the cruise, just send in your checks for $67 per person for the dinner dance. Can we all pull out our checkbooks now and write out the payments? I have one more request. May I please ask all of you to think of that special someone (I'm sure there are more than just one, right?) during our high school years and call them to greet him/her a happy valentine's day? Call and convince that person to attend this 35th anniversary reunion so you can see each other and find out about all the years in between... Think back to who it was in 1963, 64, 65 and 66 and as they say reach out and touch someone...HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!! See you all in New York City on June 22 - 24, 2001!!!
